I have used this TQ and carried it in combat. This TQ is extremely simple to use and very effective. This is also the only dual use TQ you can also use with dogs… Just FYI.
“My shop is a dealer for the RATS, and we’ve got a ton of local LEO now carrying them on their gear. The ease of use, and compact storage, makes them an easy choice.”

“Put yourself under an extremely stressful situation then try to apply some of these more complex TQS – not going to happen. What if your CAT is pre-prepped for easy application? Oh, and you can’t train with the CAT unless you want to waste a $25 piece of equipment. The 85% solution applied quickly and efficiently is better than the 99% that you can’t get on, can’t afford to buy or train with or don’t want to carry b/c it’s too bulky. Made my guys carry multiple TQS- these are a great option.”
R.A.T.S. Tourniquet Application with Pulse Oximeter – Testing how it meets tourniquet requirements
As you can see, blood and oxygen are cut off. This tourniquet is the fastest to apply out of any tourniquet. Every drop of blood is crucial when applying a tourniquet. This was one of the main focuses on the design. Applying this system in a classroom setting is one thing but Jeff has used this in real life situations.
ONE HANDED APPLICATION
What if you were all alone and cut a major artery? You could be opening a box, wood working in the backyard shop, using a chain saw or you're pinned down on the battlefield and a medic can't get to you. Accidents happen all the time. Wouldn't you feel a little more at ease if you knew you could stop a major bleeder all by yourself quickly?
